1926: Father Leo Toomey, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, established Saint Mary of the Lake Mission Church in Mt. Vernon. A large farmhouse served as the first church building.
1928: Diocese establishes second mission church in Cloverbank named St. Elizabeth's Church.
1939: Father Leo Toomey is transferred and replaced by Father Leo Glynn. Diocese closes St. Elizabeth's Church.
1940: Land at Lakeshore Rd. and Norton Rd. aquired. Groud breaking began in October. Total building cost was $31,000.
1941: First Mass celebrated on April 13th and dedicated by Bishop John Duffy on May 11th.
1947: The rectory was built
1948: Bishop of Buffalo divides St. Mary of the Lake and Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Appoints Father Glynn pastor of St. Mary of the Lake.
1954: Father Glynn is transferred. Father Charles Rochford named pastor. Plans for school building are launched.
1958: Father Donald Armbrewster named first associate pastor. School is completed at the cost of $650,000.
1959: Cornerstone laid for school on August 3rd. First day of school was September 9th. Enrollment was 332 children.
1974: Father Rochford retires. Father Alton LaRusch named new pastor.
1990: Father LaRusch retires. Father Jerry Sullivan is named pastor. Father Sullivan begins plans for new church. Deacon Richard Eagen is named first parish deacon.
1994: Capitial Campaign started in October to raise funds for new church.
1999: Permission from Diocese is granted to build new church. Groundbreaking ceremony held on May 16th. Total cost of $3,000,000.
2000: First Mass in new church celebrated on April 29th. Bishop Henry Mansel dedicates new church on August 12th.
2001: Parishioners David Velasquez and Roy Dibb are ordained to the perminant deaconate.
